I Just Want To See His Face

Years ago I remember shooting a full Gospel choir in some run down part of Dallas one Sunday morning. I was hung over, had a hard time keeping the shot in focus, and didn't give a shit about being there...until they began to sing. I don't remember all the words of the hymn they sang, but there was a bit about "I just want to see His face..." I have never forgotten those singers and that moment.

Last week I took a tour of a non profit doing work with developmentally disabled adults in Gaithersburg. A lot of Downs syndrome folks, and a mix of other issue. They have about 70 clients in the place daily mostly doing "practice' work stuffing envelopes because they can't get enough paying jobs to keep the people busy. If you've never been around this population you have no idea how warm and friendly they are. Every time I spend some time with these guys I am profoundly affected. After my time last week, I had to sit in my car for a bit and dry my eyes ( my version of a Hillary moment) before I could go on with my day. If you want a glimpse of "His face", I will suggest that you are unlikely to see it on Tee Vee in spite of what the Screechers and Preachers promise; but you just might see Him for a second or two stuffing an envelope in Gaithersburg.

So Ok... it's been a while. Guess what.. I'm back with a desire to write again. It seems like this may once again be a place I can ...
