Casey and I went to the Kennedy Center last night for the Kirov performing La Bayadere. I think this is the third time I've seen the Kirov, and all I can say is wow. The Ruskies never fail to stun me with their perfection. The famous 'Kingdom of The Shades' scene is a wonder to behold when done by 32 Russian ballerinas.
Ballet always reminds me of mass, both transcendent, both a marriage of heaven and earth, both taking the ordinary and making it into something quite extraordinary. Both offer praise to the human spirit and our creator.
