Don't Dream It's Over

I caught the dems on ABC with Charlie tonight. I thought the O man looked somewhat bored, I expected Hillary to break out with a chorus of ch-ch-changes at any moment, and I thought Edwards spoke with passion and conviction in the wrap up. I even sent a few more bucks his way tonight.I did like Hills coy take on her feelings being hurt, it was genuine, funny, and self depreciating all at once.  I kept switching back and forth to the brothers Finn with Crowded House on Austin City Limits, and that was a weird segue every-time I hit the gizmo to switch. I remember seeing CH at an outdoor show in the desert of Arizona one night long ago. They were magic, the stars were magic in the sky, and that was one of the best times in my life. John, Hill, Barrack; we're ready for some Changes. Really ready.

Well, well, well.... Okay..I was HALF right on Iowa, and half talking out of my ass. I nailed the call on the Huckster, and blew it bad on Obama. I'm reminded this morning of a day many years ago when some record weasel sat in my office playing a new unknown Seattle band named Nirvana. I didn't hear it..and didn't add it to rotation.....until later......duh. My heart wanted Edwards because he has come closest to telling the truth about who's really doing what to whom and why in this country. I've been reading Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine" recently in which she lays out a powerful explanation and history of the quasi fascist corporate agenda . Edwards addressed that better than the rest. As for my idea of Joe-Men-tum for Biden, I guess I was the one doing the bong hits.

That being said my hats off to Obama, he really did figure out a way to turn out the kids. I have found him at times to be a somewhat diffident speaker, but he was excellent last night in his victory speech. If he keeps that up he may be unbeatable. I still have the same questions about the man: what sort of change does he mean? Change and improvement are not synonymous. I am ready to support Mr. Obama if John Edwards drops out. My sense is that 'Clinton fatigue' is a huge factor that my prove fatal to Hillary, however, I wouldn't count her out in NH next week. Bill and Hill have a hell of a machine and plenty of money so we shall see. McCain will shoot down the Huck in NH, Huck will come back in SC and the action for the R's will switch to Michigan. I like the O mans chances for the grand prize in November if he doesn't get shot. I hate that I even had to write that last sentence but history shows us that real threats to the American power elite get struck down. Let's hope the SS boys and girls get all the resources they need to protect the big O. Other thoughts for the future: what about Edwards on the Supreme Court? That would be sweet. Biden as VP, or Secretary of State. Chris Dodd as Senate Majority Leader, John McCain as Sec Def, and Bill Richardson as some sort of Immigration Czar.

Predictions For Iowa

Using ALL my finely honed political instincts, and a fair dose of good old fashioned pulling stuff outta my ass.... here are my predictions for Thursday in Iowa:

Dems:

The college kids stay in their dorms doing bong hits while pissed off hicks with big medical bills show up: Result Edwards/Hillary in a squeaker at the top with come from nowhere Biden and Obama vying for 3rd. Bill Richardson gets nasty with Chris Mathews after a two day Tequila bender.

Repubs:

Right wing wackjobs have church buses, I'm not so sure that Mormons do. Huckster eeks one out over Willard. Fred Thompson goes on rampage at mall in Council Bluffs, takes Cinabon chick hostage for two hours.

Independents:

Mike Bloomberg still "thinking it over' and BTW didn't you just love him as Hyman Roth in the Godfather.

"What I am saying is, we have now what we have always needed, real partnership with the government.."

Creston, Ia. -- It would be surprising enough if Marcia Fulton was willing to get up in the middle of the night to go listen to her favorite presidential candidate. Or even her second-favorite presidential candidate. But here she was, at 2:15 a.m. today, sitting on a couch in someone else's Creston home, waiting for the arrival of her third-favorite presidential candidate.A few minutes later, the front door opened, and in came John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth, who were midway through a frantic, 36-hour campaign trek across Iowa.
The marathon trip is similar to one Democrat John Kerry made right before the 2004 caucuses, which he wound up winning. The events drew from 500 in Ames to a few dozen at homes Edwards visited in the wee hours.At a 5:15 a.m. stop at a Centerville home, a heavenly, sweet aroma greeted the trekkers. A lady holding open the door looked at a local man who'd just climbed up the front stairs. "You'd do anything for a cinnamon roll, wouldn't you?" she joked.
